The Wedding Course
This three day course is perfect for budding florists who want to kick start their career in the wedding industry. We will take you through all aspects of creating a wedding from the practical floristry skills to the business theory. The course will cater for all levels from beginners through to experienced florists.
Day 1 - Bouquets & Business - 10am - 4pm
On day one we will settle in with cups of tea and biscuits and discuss all things business. You will learn how best to approach a wedding, how to write a quote, how to hold a consultation, how to cost your flowers and how to boost your image on social media.
In the afternoon we will begin the practical side of the course starting with the most important thing, bridal bouquets. I will teach you how to condition and prepare your blooms as well as how to use colour, texture and shape. We will then show you how to finish off your bouquet tying it with a beautiful silk ribbon.
Day 2 - Crowns, Buttonholes & Meadows - 10am - 4pm
In the morning we will begin with some more intricate work learning how to make buttonholes and flower crowns. We will focus on which flowers work well out of water as well as some wiring techniques.
In the afternoon we will be creating floral meadows. These have become very popular recently and look simply stunning. We will be using a foam free technique for our base and learning how and where to place flowers to create a wild and natural look.
Day 3 - Urns & Table Arrangements - 10am - 4pm
On our final day I will begin by teaching you how to create a beautiful table arrangement. We will be focusing on foam free techniques, how to dress a table and which vases work best for weddings.
In the afternoon you will have gained the confidence to tackle something a bit bigger! You will each have the chance to create your very own large urn arrangement. This is a wonderful way to really express your creativity and learn how to work on a larger scale using foam free techniques.
This course will focus on a more sustainable way of floristry working with flowers grown by me or sourced locally where possible. We will also be using foam free techniques. The flowers will move with the seasons providing you with a beautiful selection of what is at its best at that time of year.
All materials will be provided throughout the three days. Everything you create will be yours to take home at the end of the course. We strongly encourage you to document your work throughout. We will help you do this by discussing how best to photograph your flowers.
The course can be paid for in instalments. If you would like more information on this please email Helena at firstname.lastname@example.org
A delicious lunch will be provided each day as well as refreshments – please email Helena at email@example.com with any specific dietary requirements.
Due to the nature of British flowers and the fact that the blooms will be cut and sourced in advance I am unable to offer refunds or transfers to other dates. The course needs a minimum of 4 people to run.
